This project, a winner of the IDB’s “Back to the Streets” call for proposals, aimed to improve mobility and road safety in the El Marañón area during the pandemic.

The bus stop’s design addressed specific issues, such as driving rain, by integrating the roof with a neighboring restaurant, allowing passengers to wait for the bus or visit the establishment in comfort and safety. This integration fostered a sense of belonging among local merchants, strengthening their connection to the space and its safety. A freestanding sink was also installed to address hygiene needs during the pandemic.

The project incorporated art in a comprehensive way, both in the murals and in the design of the stalls, creating a visually appealing and functional experience.

Finally, in coordination with the Traffic Authority, the street was redesigned to optimize its use by pedestrians and vehicles, and an urban garden was created in collaboration with the local government.
