{"id":1175,"date":"2026-05-18T20:31:54","date_gmt":"2026-05-19T01:31:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reurbe.com\/?post_type=proyecto&#038;p=1175"},"modified":"2026-05-18T21:30:53","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T02:30:53","slug":"camina-tu-barrio-aceras-coco-del-mar","status":"publish","type":"proyecto","link":"https:\/\/reurbe.com\/en\/proyectos\/camina-tu-barrio-aceras-coco-del-mar\/","title":{"rendered":"Walk Your Neighborhood \/ Coco del Mar Sidewalks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Camina tu Barrio was launched in 2017 as a community consultation in Coco del Mar, where we worked with residents to identify a series of needs aimed at improving life in the neighborhood\u2014including improvements to the sidewalk system and the creation of a neighborhood park, the latter of which gave rise to the Coco Parque project. To delve deeper into the assessment of pedestrian mobility, we organized a \u201cJane Walk\u201d with local residents\u2014a collective walking tour that allowed us to identify critical points and opportunities for intervention on-site. The sidewalk project materialized in 2018 as a tactical urbanism initiative carried out in collaboration with the NGO Think Impact and 30 of its volunteers: in a single morning, we transformed a section of sidewalk usurped by informal parking into a tactical sidewalk built with gravel, plants, and tires, returning the space to pedestrians. The intervention proved its value as a proof of concept: three months later, the San Francisco Community Board built the permanent concrete sidewalk, replicating the logic of the original design.
