In Buenaventura, high vehicle speeds were compromising residents’ road safety. To address this issue, we held participatory workshops with the community to identify the main destinations and risk points within the neighborhood. The resulting design incorporated 1.7 km of a tactical bike lane painted on the pavement, a bus stop for employees, street furniture such as bike racks and benches, and an on-site communication strategy to promote slow and alternative mobility. The construction of the structures utilized materials salvaged from local developments, reinforcing a sustainable and functional approach.
